Global 13 is proud to announce that our CEO, Jason Harborow, has been appointed as the new Independent Chair of the Welsh Amateur Boxing Association (WABA). His four-year term begins immediately following the 2025 AGM.

Jason succeeds outgoing Chair Paul Thorogood, MBE, and brings with him extensive leadership experience across sport, culture, and major events. His career has included senior roles such as:
-
CEO of Liverpool European Capital of Culture
-
Commercial General Manager of the Manchester Commonwealth Games
-
Operations Director of the Rugby League World Cup
-
Stadium Director of the former JJB Sports Stadium in Wigan
Since founding Global 13 in 2016, Jason has advised and led some of the Middle East’s highest-profile projects, as well as steering major initiatives in the UK, USA, and Southeast Asia. He most recently chaired the World Boxing Championships Steering Group, delivering the sport’s largest ever event in Liverpool.
Jason also continues to play an active role in rugby league as an Non-Executive Director of Swinton Lions RLFC, Chairman of the club’s foundation, and a leading figure in the growth of the women’s game.
On his appointment, Jason said:
“I am delighted and honoured to be offered the opportunity to lead Welsh Boxing as its Chair. I would like to thank outgoing Chair, Paul Thorogood, MBE, for all that he has done for Welsh Boxing over the past four years. I am excited at the prospect of working with such a highly skilled and knowledgeable board supported by WABA’s professional and experienced Executive team.”
This appointment further underlines Jason’s commitment, and Global 13’s values, to driving innovation, governance, and growth across the sporting landscape.
